Coronation Street MS storyline

As some of you soap opera enthusiasts may be aware, Coronation Street character, Johnny Connor, has been experiencing symptoms such as vision problems, hand tremors and difficulties with balance and mobility since April.

In an episode due to air on Wednesday 14 June, Johnny will reveal he has MS. When a popular TV programme features MS it can result in an increase in enquiries and people may approach you with questions about the programme. To support you, should you receive any enquiries around this, we’ve produced an FAQ document and would encourage you to signpost these queries on to our Helpline or Supporter Care:

Would you like to get involved?

Our Press Office is looking for people affected by MS to get involved with some media work around this storyline. A key theme of the storyline is Johnny’s struggle with revealing his diagnosis to his family, and his fears around the impact MS will have on them.

If you are:

  • a man with MS willing to speak about coming to terms with your MS diagnosis;
  • a wife/partner/son or daughter of a man with MS willing to speak about your experiences of living with MS and the impact it’s had on your family; or
  • a man or woman who’s not shared your MS diagnosis with others
