Hollyoaks' character diagnosed with MS

On Thursday 19 January, soap opera Hollyoaks is broadcasting a new storyline where one of their main characters, Nancy Osbourne (pictured), will be diagnosed with MS.

Nancy’s character has been experiencing a series of unexplained symptoms – including weakness, tremor and spasms – since September 2016. This is the first time her condition will be made public. In this episode, she’ll have an appointment with her neurologist where she’ll get her MRI results and be told she has relapsing MS.

The episode will air on Thursday, 19 January on E4 at 7pm, Friday, 20 January on C4 at 6:30 and Sunday 22 January during the Hollyoaks omnibus on C4 from 9am-12pm.

How we’ve been involved

We were contacted by the script writers about the storyline early last year, and we’ve since been providing them with accurate information about MS. We’ve also introduced them to people affected by the condition to help them understand how MS really affects people, their families and friends.
