New Health and Wellbeing grant is live

The Health and Wellbeing grant is now live and accepting applications.

The grant covers the same items and breaks as the Individual Support Grant and Short Break and Activities grants used to, as well as allowing for requests for other things that will help improve a person’s overall health and wellbeing.

The application form

The new form asks applicants for more information about how the grant will make an impact on their life, and less information about their finances.

These changes, and others, were based on the outcome of a review in 2016 involving staff and volunteers, in which these changes were recommended, along with the move to a bi-monthly independent national grant panel, and offering a speedier small grant.

At this stage we are piloting the new form so you can start using it. The Grants Team at National Centre will only be using this form so please use it for any application for top up grants.

Process at National Centre

Requests for the Health and Wellbeing Grant and Carers Grant Fund are considered at the same time.

Requests for grants for amounts less than £500 are considered small grants. We aim to give the outcome of small grant applications within three weeks of receiving a completed application.

Request for grants for amounts over £500 will be reviewed by a national panel. This panel aims to meet every two months. Applicants will be informed of the outcome within one working week of the panel meeting.

What happens to the other grants

The Carer's Grant is still available and hasn't changed.

If you are processing grants locally, and are not going to be sending the application to National Centre, you can continue to use the Individual Support Grant form for now. We will be rolling out the new Health and Wellbeing form to everyone over the course of 2017, at which point we'll ask everyone to stop using this form.

The Short Breaks and Activities (SBA) forms are no longer in use. Any requests for breaks should be made on the Health and Wellbeing form. Groups can now consider these types of requests locally or continue sending them to the Grants Team for processing.
