Recognising 'Shining Stars'

From raising awareness, cheering at marathons, and bucket collecting to providing support, friendship and exercise classes – our volunteers do so much to ensure no one has to face MS alone. They make such a difference to the lives of people affected by MS and for that we want to say thank you!

Volunteers’ Week provides an annual opportunity to celebrate volunteers and this year our MS Society Ambassadors sent thank you cards, our Chief Executive shared a message and thank you video, and messages on social media were heard loud and clear, far and wide.

But how can you pass that message of thanks on to other amazing volunteers you know?

Our Shining Stars Award for outstanding volunteering has existed for years. But nominations have been declining year-on-year and many volunteers have said they haven’t heard of it. So, based on feedback, we’re revamping and relaunching this special award.

To make it quicker to nominate volunteers, we’ll have a new and easy to use online form with a few simple questions about what makes your nominee outstanding. There will also be a paper form available. Recipients will be confirmed by a panel of volunteers and will receive a starry certificate and pin badge. The Portal will also show who’s received a Shining Stars award.

So please spread the word and keep an eye out for the Shining Stars relaunch – we look forward to receiving your nominations and celebrating amazing volunteers and the difference they make!

Of course, this isn’t the only way of thanking volunteers – you’ll have plenty of your own ideas, and you can find a few more on our Recognising volunteer contributions page too.
