Investing in Volunteers 2018

We want to provide a great experience for people who choose to volunteer with us so this year we have been working towards Investing in Volunteers (IiV) accreditation. Investing in Volunteers is the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management.

We’re now on the home stretch with our application – waiting for the result of our assessment. We should receive the decision on whether or not we have achieved the standard, at the end of January but looking back now, at the close of the year, we can be pleased with what we have achieved together.

Last month about 100 of our volunteers told IiV assessors what it’s like to volunteer with us. In addition, many more volunteers had the opportunity to feedback on their experience through an online survey and 200 of you chose to do so. Over 20 staff also fed into the assessment process to give their views on supporting and valuing volunteers.

We know from early feedback that we are doing some great stuff but the process has been a learning exercise; helping us to see what we’re doing well and where we can improve. Whatever the outcome, we are committed to acting on our volunteers’ feedback and ensuring that we offer a great place to volunteer.

Thank you to all our volunteers that took part in the assessment process either face to face, by phone or by completing the survey. We look forward to sharing the final report and outcome with you in January.
