We'll launch our strategy 2020-2024 next year

As our current strategy ‘Together to Beat MS’ comes to an end this year, we’ll launch our next strategy 2020-2024 next year.

We spoke to lots of people in our MS community, including over 800 volunteers and members, about what’s important, what we should build on and what doesn’t work well, to help develop the new strategy.

Our new strategy will build on all the progress we’ve made so far – in MS research, services and support and campaigning for change - but will also require us to change and adapt so that we can make more of a difference for everyone living with MS.

Our last strategy had seven goals. We’ve focused these down into three long-term goals:

  • Effective treatments and preventing MS
  • People living well with MS
  • Connected communities, powerful voices

These goals will guide everything we do in the future.

How do we do this?

As we all know, we’re operating in challenging circumstances – politically, socially, and within an ever changing charity sector. We’re living in fast-changing, often unpredictable times, and this is likely to continue for a long time.

Our vision is a world free from the effects of MS; and we won’t let people with MS fall off the agenda.

To help us adapt and provide the best support and progress we can, our strategy sets out how we need to do things and develop in seven ways.

  • We’ll always ask our MS community, listen and be led by what they tell us
  • We’ll find new ways to reach and involve MS communities
  • We’ll be fully inclusive, valuing diversity and actively reaching out to different groups
  • We’ll make the most of digital, data and technology
  • We’ll partner more with other organisations to make the best difference for people living with MS
  • We’ll look to be more innovative and try new things
  • We’ll support, inspire and value our staff and volunteers – together we make the biggest difference!

What do you think?

How do these goals and seven areas relate to your volunteering? Do you have plans, thoughts or experience of trying something new, using a new digital tool or reaching out to diverse groups? Next year we’d love to start to facilitate a conversation with you to share your thoughts and ways of doing things with each other.

Sharing ideas and success stories, as well as failures, can help all of us learn. And learning from each other could improve services, support and opportunities across the UK.

We'll be in touch again in the New Year. But if you’d like to share your thoughts or stories, or have any questions, in the meantime please get in touch at [email protected]
