Ballet for MS

At the start of the year, we collaborated with the Royal Opera House on an exciting dance project inspired by Cathy Marston’s new ballet, The Cellist, which celebrates the life and career of Jacqueline du Pré. A group of 12 from our community attended weekly dance workshops held at the Royal Opera House.

The project was due to end with a ‘Live at Lunch’ special performance at on 27 March, but lockdown put a stop to this. Sensing the disappointment from all involved, choreographer Bim Malcomson volunteered her time to teach the group (virtually) every week. Eight months on, she’s still holding the classes – and looking for new participants!

Bim’s online beginners’ ballet class is designed especially for people living with MS – focusing on movement and development. She takes the principles of ballet and tailors moves to each individual in relaxed, creative and fun sessions.

How can I get involved?

Classes take place on a Sunday (10am to 11am). They’re £10 each (pay as you go) but concessions are available, so let Bim know if cost is an issue. Places are limited, and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

This is a wonderful opportunity to improve your balance and flexibility while learning something new. If you’re interested in joining, please contact Bim directly on [email protected].
