Volunteers' Week is coming

As you’ll most likely know, Volunteers’ Week is a national celebration of everything that's great about volunteering. And while of course we’re grateful for everything you do for our community every day, Volunteers' Week is a chance for us to really shout about it from the rooftops.

From 1-7 June, organisations throughout the UK will be talking about the impact their volunteers deliver. But we believe you, our MS Society volunteers, are the best of the best. The MS Society was created by volunteers in 1953, and our volunteers remain more important than ever.

Your stories

Stories of human contact and interaction are the best way to describe the role you play in making sure no one faces MS alone so, throughout Volunteers’ Week, we’ll be highlighting the impact MS Society volunteers have on our community and individuals.

We’ll be sharing some of these stories over the week and we hope you enjoy reading them.

Join in!

We'd love you to join in, in your own way, with Volunteers’ Week celebrations. Whilst many of you are gearing up towards restarting face-to-face activity in local groups, campaigns and fundraising, there are ways to get involved virtually as well.

  • Organise a celebration event virtually or in person in a safe way - to acknowledge your achievements, as well as those achievements of other volunteers in your area.

  • Nominate other volunteers for a Shining Star award for their outstanding contributions - if you do this quickly, we’ll do everything we can to get the award to you in time for presentation during Volunteers’ Week. Find out more here.

  • Get your local press involved. See our guidance on contacting local press here.

  • Take photos and videos which you can share on your social media channels. Find our social media guidance here.

  • Make a video of your celebrations, or interview others about their achievements and volunteering with the MS Society and upload it to Instagram,Twitter or LinkedIn using the hashtag #MSSVolunteers

We’ll be in touch again before June, but we hope you all have a fantastic Volunteers’ Week!
