Make Your Move in 2022

We know that for many people the start of the new year means setting new goals. And quite often this means becoming more active! To help you achieve this, we’ve been working on something exciting – a brand new series of physical activity videos made into a DVD called Make Your Move. And they’re completely free!

Make Your Move is aimed at people living with long term health conditions, who may experience symptoms such as pain, fatigue, stiffness and low moods. The purpose of the videos is to motivate and support people to be active in a way that works for them using simple and varied activities that are designed to improve strength, balance, coordination, energy and stamina, as well as relieve stress.

Why?

Because physical activity has been proven to help manage many symptoms including pain and tiredness, as well as improve overall wellbeing, mood and sleep.

Who’s created the videos?

The videos were developed by The Richmond Group of Charities’ Movement for All programme, with the wider partnership behind the award-winning campaign We Are Undefeatable, working with experienced instructors Anne, Alex, Sandra and Michelle to design the sessions.

What’s included?

There are six different physical activity sessions, each around 15 minutes long with opportunities to pause and take breaks throughout. Developed by experienced instructors, the videos offer three different ways of doing the exercises - from a chair, assisted and standing. The sessions are:

  1. Dance with Anne

  2. Energy with Alex

  3. Balance with Sandra

  4. Strength with Alex

  5. Boxing with Michelle

  6. Mindfulness with Sandra

Each one can be done independently of the others and in any order. Whether you’re new to physical activity or just want to try something different, all fitness levels are catered for.

How can I access the videos?

The DVDs are available from our online shop here and they’re free to order! All videos are also available on YouTube here.

We hope that these videos will help you and your members find ways to move more that are fun, engaging, motivating and effective.
