Update on our BBC Lifeline Appeal
The MS Society’s Lifeline Appeal was broadcast on the BBC on 26 June. Chef Tom Kerridge presented the film, which focused on three people with MS (Sasha, Stuart and Val) and their stories about our MS Helpline, research and local groups.
Early reports show approximately £12,000 has been raised so far, but we’ll be able to confirm the final figure in the coming weeks. The appeal has also helped us raise awareness of MS and our work. We saw an increase in new users to our website – with people reading about the appeal and then visiting pages of the site providing information about MS and explaining what we do.
Social media also really helped spread the word, with lots of people viewing our posts and tweets on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Many went on to share these posts with their own networks and followers. More than 100,000 people viewed the tweet announcing the appeal with Tom Kerridge, making it our most successful of the year so far.
Thanks to everyone who watched and supported the film and helped us spread the word.
If you missed it, there’s still time to watch it – it’s on BBC iPlayer until Sunday (17 July). You can watch it and support us here.
