Celebrating 70 years of the MS Society

In September’s Volunteer Newsletter, we were excited to announce that this year marks 70 years of the MS Society. You can find a copy of the article here.

The MS Society was founded in 1953 by volunteers Richard and Mary Cave. They were frustrated at the lack of treatments and support available for Mary's MS. They held the first MS Society meeting on 2 December in Chelsea Town Hall! And 70 years later there are nearly 3,000 of you!

So, we’re taking this anniversary to celebrate you and all you’ve helped us achieve.

Celebrate with us

Tune in to our Volunteer Impact Awards

To kick off the celebrations, join us for our special seventieth anniversary edition of the Volunteer Impact Awards on Thursday 30 November 2023 at 7pm.

This year's event will be held by our hilarious Ambassador, Ivo Graham! And will be live streamed on our YouTube and Facebook channels, so you can watch from the comfort of your own home.

Throw a 70th themed party

We hope that you can celebrate the anniversary throughout December with us. Why not get together with other volunteers, friends and family to host a special end of year party?

A range of limited edition, MS Society 70 years party items will be available to order from the online shop from Monday 23 October. Order your balloons, bunting and pin badges online here to really get the party started! You will need to log in with your shop account to see the items, or register if you dont have one yet!

We’ve also prepared a host of downloadable goodies to help you get into the party spirit:
