Breathing Space Project starts in Wales for unpaid carers

We're pleased to introduce the Breathing Space Project for unpaid carers in Wales until March 2025. The project, which is funded by the Welsh Government, extends support to those caring for people living with MS by providing short breaks.

Whether you, or someone you know, is caring for a person full-time or for a few hours a week, for example, by collecting a person’s medication or providing transport to hospital appointments, Breathing Space may be able to offer some extra support.

Breathing Space provides short breaks which are available individually or with the person being cared for, as well as family and friends. These include:

  • day breaks, such as spa days, cinema trips and afternoon tea

  • six-week courses covering a range of topics such as creative writing, art and pottery

  • weekend caravan breaks (limited availability)

  • other events etc.

You can find a full list of what’s available on the website.

How to arrange a short break

This project is made possible through the Carers Trust – Welsh Government Amser programme, ensuring that unpaid carers find the respite they need.
