Last year we shared an update about our exciting plans to open two new
shops in Greater Manchester. We’re now delighted to share the news that
our shop in Altrincham is now open to the public!
Over the past six months, the Retail Team, supported by many other colleagues, has been busy bringing the shop to life —from securing and fitting it out, to creating branding and specialist fixtures. And they’ve been recruiting a manager and the volunteer team who will help to run and manage the shop.
Located on Ashley Road, the Altrincham shop is the first new charity shop to open in the area. Our second shop is planned to open within the next few months in Sale.
The new shop has been designed to be as accessible as possible in terms of physical layout, colour, language, text and lighting. We want to welcome anyone who’s looking for a bargain, whatever their accessibility needs might be. And to create an enjoyable space that they’ll want to return to.
How will the new shops help the MS community?
We want our new shops to become local hubs for the MS community. They will have space to advertise local group activity, information, services and support. And space to share information from local partners who also support the MS community.
What’s next?
We’ll keep you updated on the progress of our second shop opening in the coming weeks.
In the meantime, if you know anyone living in the Altrincham or Sale areas who'd like to volunteer in one of our shops, they can find more information here.
