The Portal has closed down

The volunteer Portal has now reached the end of its life.
From Tuesday 10 December 2024, it's no longer available to volunteers.

We've been mentioning the upcoming loss of the Portal in our monthly e-newsletters. And we recently emailed volunteers in the roles most likely to use the Portal, to inform them of the closure date.

The platform the system's built on has reached the end of its life, and will no longer be supported. When this happens, sites become vulnerable to attacks and security fixes are no longer issued, so we’ve had to make the difficult decision to take the Portal offline. We're sorry for the inconvenience this will cause.

There are new ways for volunteers to access and upload information:

Group communications:

If you need to send communications, it's really important that you contact the Volunteer Support Team (VST) on [email protected] for the most up-to-date version. You could be in breach of GDPR by not doing this, which could result in a data breach and an unlimited fine for the MS Society.

In the longer term, we’re working hard on a solution to give volunteers direct access to contact data, and we'll share further information soon.

Group services:

Please continue to send new services, or changes to services, to the VST on [email protected] to approve and upload to the website. A lot of work’s taking place to transfer services to Assemble ready for the launch, so we’ll do our best to post your updates as quickly as possible — but please be patient.

Remember to include the following information about your services:

  • Title
  • Description
  • Address
  • Venue accessibility
  • Transport options
  • Type (one off, regular, on demand, etc)
  • Organiser contact details
  • Activity restrictions
  • Target audience (people with MS, families and carers of people with MS, everyone, etc)
  • Any cost to attendees

We’re making sure that all your group services and activities are safe and meet insurance guidelines. The VST may need to contact you with queries, or requests to review your SLA or H&S paperwork, so please keep a look out and update us on any progress.

Once we launch our new volunteer management system, Assemble, you'll be able to upload and amend your own services again there.

If you have any questions, please contact the Volunteer Support Team by calling 0300 500 8084 (select option #3) or by emailing [email protected] .
