Behind the scenes of Assemble

With Assemble ready to launch in the next coming months, we’d like you to meet some of the team working to make it all happen.

Emily

Emily’s our Head of Volunteering and Community Networks. She’s been the driving force in developing our plans for Assemble, and advocating for the needs of our volunteers in the new system.

Emily says: “It’s been an exciting year or so as we’ve gone from dreaming of a system to meet the needs of our volunteers, to bringing that to life. I’ve been banging the drum for volunteering in meetings about the wider data project (Sage) and keeping an eye on the many moving parts to get us to the point of launch.

I’m really excited by the possibilities that Assemble holds for us, and how it can improve the experience of the brilliant volunteers who support us. I’m really looking forward to launch day, and continuing to work with volunteers over the coming months to make the system the best that it can be.”

Lucy

Lucy’s leading the development and roll out of Assemble to make sure this system supports both volunteers and staff in their day-to-day roles.

Lucy says: “One of the key activities I’ve been involved with is developing our volunteer and staff training resources ready for launching the system in the next coming months. A really important area of the project I’m working on with the project team is getting all our existing volunteer data ready to be transferred to Assemble so that volunteers can view and update their own data.

I also facilitate our wonderful Volunteer User Panel, who are very engaged and provide us with helpful feedback as we develop Assemble. The key activities they’ve been involved with (change and comms planning, and being able to test the system) have played a valuable part in the place we find ourselves now with how much progress we’ve made.”

Volunteer Support Team

Lauren, Dom and their colleagues in the Volunteer Support Team have been busy over the last couple of months ensuring that Assemble’s ready to go for all volunteers.

Dom says: “We’ve transferred all the information for your services and activities from the Portal over to Assemble so you won't have to when it launches. We’ll give you guidance and training on how to add new services and activities. This has been a really useful exercise because it’s helped us to identify some of those historic services and activities that are no longer running, as well as documents that are out of date, so your Volunteer Support Officer may be in touch to help you update your paperwork. When we launch Assemble soon,we’re sure you’ll be really pleased with how simple it is to access and update your service and activity data.”

Annabel

Annabel and the Policy Team have been working over the last few months to update all the guidance available to you in what was previously known as the Group Handbook, and on the volunteer website.

Annabel says: "When Assemble launches, you’ll find refreshed guidance available in the Document Hub that’ll hopefully feel easier to understand and follow. Don't worry, none of our processes have changed — we've just worked to make all the guidance clearer and more accessible for you!”

Volunteer Engagement and Comms Team

Emma and the Volunteer Engagement and Comms Team are making sure Assemble has all the resources you need to keep you updated and informed through your volunteering.

Emma says: “We’re populating the new Document Hub so you’ll have access to all the usual resources, forms and news from the volunteer website. We’ve also put together the videos and written training to help you find your way around Assemble with ease.”
