Project Mead community roadshow events

Join us at an event this February or March to tell us how we can improve our support services in your community.

What is Project Mead?

As you know, through the dedication of our volunteers, we’ve been providing services to support people affected by MS since 1953. Today, we have 230 groups providing support to the MS community right across the UK. So it’s important to us that we always listen to volunteers and our community to make sure we’re providing the right support and the best possible services to people who need us.

Recently, speaking to volunteers, the MS community and our staff teams, we’ve heard about the great work groups are doing. But we’ve also been told we can go further to make our services more accessible, more joined-up and better aligned to the needs of the communities we support.

That’s why we’re working hard on Project Mead — our services transformation project. And, in February and March, we’re going back out to hear from the community again. We want to speak to volunteers and people who use our services to understand exactly what changes we need to make to meet these needs.

February roadshow events

We’d like to invite you to join us at an event in your area. We want to tell you about the work we’re doing with Project Mead and find out where you think we need to make changes to better support people affected by MS. Your views and opinions will directly influence and help shape the new community services model we’re developing.

Each event will be split into two sessions:

In the first session, we’ll meet volunteers who have experience running our groups and delivering support services to local people.

For the second session, we’re inviting everyone in the local MS community to come and share their ideas with us. We’d love to hear from anyone who might be affected by MS — people living with MS, people who use our services, carers, family, friends and other service providers offering local support. Everyone’s welcome to come and help us shape the new community model to make sure it works for the people who need us most.

As a MS Society volunteer please prioritise attending the volunteer session, there’s no need to attend both sessions as the content will be very similar.

How to book a place

You can find out about where the events are taking place here, along with the links to book a place. Places are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment. If you’re not able to attend in person, we’ll also be running similar separate online events which will follow the same format for volunteers and the MS community. We’ll share more details about those soon.

Sharing event information with your local community

We want to spread the word about these events as far as possible to ensure that we get as many people as possible sharing their views and experiences. We’d therefore be grateful if you could share the information about your local event and booking link with your local contacts. Please be careful to only share the link to the community event.

You could also share it on your group’s social media channels to get the word out there. We’ve drafted some text below for you to edit and use:
