PVG scheme changes in Scotland

Disclosure Scotland will make changes to the PVG (Protecting Vulnerable Groups) Scheme from 1 April 2025 to implement the Disclosure (Scotland) Act 2020.

Nothing will change for volunteers operating in Scotland who are already part of the PVG scheme. But the changes will mean that some volunteers in other specific roles in Scotland will need to be PVG checked for the first time before August 2025 to comply with the law.

We’re in the process of identifying impacted volunteer roles, and we'll be emailing any affected volunteers directly over the coming weeks. This email will explain any actions you need to take. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in completing these within the enforced timeframe.

The changes may also mean that service providers who our groups in Scotland work with will need to undertake PVG checks. We'll be in touch with your group if this impacts a service provider you work with.
