Happy Volunteers' Week
It’s an early Volunteer Newsletter from us this month! That’s because today, Monday 2 June, marks the start of Volunteers’ Week. So, I wanted to use this as an opportunity to thank you all.
As Chief Executive, I’m lucky to be able to meet lots of volunteers and I’m continually inspired by your dedication, selflessness and resilience.
Volunteers are a vital thread running throughout our organisation. From raising crucial funds to campaigning for change. From providing information, support and connection to sharing lived experience and skills to shape our work. Whether you’re sitting on a national council or providing a listening ear at a group coffee morning, what you do matters. Every minute you give helps us ensure no one faces MS alone.
We’ll be using this week to celebrate your volunteering in different ways across our channels. Look out for some fantastic volunteer blogs and a special video from our Ambassadors and staff on social media, which you can watch above. We’ll also have content across our other channels, such as our website, emails, and in shops.
We won’t just be shouting about you externally either. We’ll be inviting staff to come along to an internal session to hear from volunteers from Asian MS and Mutual Support, as well as one of our volunteer Wellbeing Facilitators. They’ll be speaking about the different ways in which they support people to live well with MS.
I hope you can join me at the next Volunteer Voice session this Wednesday 4 June, 6pm, where we’ll be joined by members of the Helpline Team. They’ll be giving us an update on the increasing number of people we've been able to support through our award-winning MS Helpline, which we couldn’t run without our Helpline Volunteers. You can sign up here.
Until then, from me and everyone at the MS Society, a big thank you and I wish you all a happy Volunteers’ Week.
