New volunteering policies

With Project Mead changes underway, we’ve been reviewing some of our policies and – for the first time – created a volunteering policy. This is a huge milestone in our commitment to you.
We’ve also updated our policy on how we problem solve with volunteers and created a new policy and guidance on fundraising with people in vulnerable circumstances.

Our brand-new volunteering policy provides a framework for good practice in how we involve you in the life and work of the organisation. It outlines the volunteer management standards we’re committed to achieving and what you can expect while volunteering with us. And for the first time, we have clear definitions of volunteering, volunteer, volunteer manager and volunteer journey.
Volunteer problem solving policy
Previously ‘resolving volunteer issues policy’, this refreshed policy sets out how we problem solve with our volunteers, informally and formally. It explains our fair, transparent and swift process for raising concerns or complaints relating to volunteers and the effective arrangements in place for dealing with issues. And it ensures that everyone is treated fairly, consistently and in a timely manner.
Fundraising with people in vulnerable circumstances policy
This new policy sets out how we assist and protect our supporters to ensure they make an informed decision about the financial support they choose to give us. The accompanying guidance document addresses how we identify and respond to people in vulnerable circumstances, including a list of behavioural signs to be aware of and providing a duty of care. It covers making and communicating a decision to accept or decline support, as well as further action that may be required.
