2025 Christmas message from CEO, Nick Moberly
As a challenging year comes to a close, I’d like to reflect on everything we’ve achieved together – and what’s to come in 2026.
2025 has seen impact across all areas of the organisation. We’ve been driving positive change through research, fundraising and vital campaigns, whilst continuing to deliver essential support to the MS community. This success has been powered by the incredible generosity of you - our volunteers. Your gift of time, dedication, expertise and lived experience has been central to all we’ve achieved.
For me, two highlights of 2025 stand out. This year marks the end of our Stop MS Appeal – an 11-year journey to raise £100 million and fund groundbreaking research. The money raised has made incredible things happen, like Octopus, the world’s first clinical trial of its kind for progressive MS. I’m excited to share that we’re on track to reach our goal, and we’ll provide an update on the total raised soon. Whether you’ve helped us spread awareness of the appeal, donated or been involved in fundraising – we couldn’t have done it without you.
Earlier this year, we successfully influenced the government to scrap the proposed harmful changes to Personal Independence Payments (PIP). We’re so grateful to all of you who shared your views on social media, wrote to your MP or got involved in co-production. You made us stronger by helping us raise our voices as one.
2026 will be a year of transformation.
With the help of your feedback and everything the MS community has told us, we’ve been working hard to improve our services. We’re looking forward to celebrating the launch of MS Help early next year, building stronger connections between UK and local community services to help everyone affected by MS. Thanks to all of you who’ve helped shape this work by attending one of our community roadshows earlier this year. You can find the latest on our services transformation project below and find all our previous updates here.
With MS Help, volunteers who deliver local services will have better access to support and resources. And Assemble, our new volunteer management system, launching from January, will provide an additional opportunity to form better connections with each other. I hope Assemble will make your volunteering more enjoyable by also simplifying processes, giving you control of your personal data and helping you find the information you need more efficiently.
Next year, we’ll also be launching our new vision for volunteering, which will enable us to provide you with a more structured, consistent and meaningful volunteering experience. We want all of you to feel valued for the direct impact you have on people living with MS. We look forward to sharing more on this soon.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the festive break. On behalf of myself, the Executive Group and the Board of Trustees — thank you for your ongoing support.
Best wishes,
Nick Moberly
