Annual Research Lecture 2026

Join us for the Annual Research Lecture on Tuesday 19 May from 6.45pm at the Royal Society, London, SW1Y 5AG.

Professor Alasdair Coles, Co Director of the MS Society Cambridge Centre for Myelin Repair, will present his talk — Remyelination: The next phase of MS treatment.

In this lecture, Professor Coles will reflect on the evolution of MS treatment, from early breakthroughs for relapsing MS, to recent pioneering efforts to repair damaged myelin.

He’ll describe his vision for a future where the experience of having MS is radically different to today, and set out his roadmap for developing a new generation of MS treatments to help make that future a reality.

Following the lecture, Professor Coles will be joined by his collaborator and mentee, Dr Nick Cunniffe, who led the MS Society’s successful CCMR2 myelin repair trial, which reported positive results last year, alongside other leading MS researchers for a panel discussion. Guests will also have the opportunity to ask questions during this session.

After the Q&A, guests are warmly invited to stay for drinks and canapés, with the evening concluding at 9.30pm.
