Are you employed and would like support with your MS?

If you’re employed (including self-employed) and would like up to 10 hours of tailored support relating to work-related difficulties, you might like to apply for the MS Work Hub study.

The MS Work Hub study

In partnership with Dr Blanca De Dios Pérez, Research Fellow at the University of Nottingham, we’re looking for people with MS in the UK who’re in paid employment to participate in the MS Work Hub study. Read more about Blanca’s work here.

The study will look at whether receiving support to manage work-related difficulties can improve employees’ experiences at work. This can include symptom management and workplace adjustments.

How will the study work?

Participants will be randomly selected for either an intervention group or a control group. Those in the intervention group will be invited to an initial discussion about their needs, followed by up to 10 hours of individualised support over six months from MS Society staff. This can be done remotely. Employers can also receive up to four hours of support over the six-month period.

Those in the control group can still access all existing services available to people with MS, but will not receive tailored support from the study. We’ll ask all participants to complete questionnaires to help us understand their experiences.

What will the study help us achieve?

By looking at the experiences of the two groups, we’ll better understand whether and how employment support works. Studies like this help us to improve things for people with MS by providing better services and equipping us with evidence we can use to advocate for our community’s needs.
