Project Mead is becoming MS Help

Over the past year we’ve been telling you about Project Mead, our services transformation project. We’ve been looking at how we can improve our services to help more people affected by MS.
In spring 2026, we’ll celebrate the launch of a new model for UK and local services called MS Help. We’ve been working with staff, volunteers and our community to develop a model that responds to the needs of people living with MS, along with their friends, families and carers.
The MS Help Hub
That’s why we’re introducing the MS Help Hub to bring together everything people who use our services need to manage their MS or support and care for someone living with MS. Whether it’s information about MS, emotional support, self-serve and digital resources, or signposting to specialist and local services, they'll find it all in one place when they contact the MS Help Hub.
Support for volunteers
Our volunteers and MS groups have been brilliant delivering UK-wide and local community services, but you’ve also been clear that it’s getting more difficult with changes in the volunteering landscape. We’re introducing new roles to put more focus on developing and supporting volunteers.
With our new MS Help Teams, we’re increasing our staff presence in local communities across the UK. Help Teams will offer volunteers and service partners sustainable support combined with local knowledge and expertise, so you can get on with delivering services for people affected by MS.
We’ve also created a new Head of Volunteering role. The person in this role will reinvigorate our volunteering strategy and deliver improved experiences for all of our volunteers.
When will we see these changes?
On Friday 2 January, our staff teams will be moving into new roles as part of an internal restructure to get ready for the launch of MS Help in early April. This will include changes for both our UK-wide and local community services teams as we create stronger alignment between the two areas. We’ll deliver a unified vision for all of our MS services and a more holistic, intuitive experience for people who use our services.
What support will be in place for volunteers?
This might mean that you have a new staff contact or volunteer manager supporting you as a volunteer. We’ll be reaching out in the first two weeks of January to introduce our new teams and make sure all of our volunteers know who you can speak to if you have questions or need support.
We’ll be sharing lots of guidance and resources in the coming months to make sure you have everything you need as we get ready for the launch of MS Help together. Thank you for your patience while we make these changes to our ways of working. And thank you, as always, for your continued commitment and everything you do to help and support the MS community.
