Join an online conversation with our Trustees about AI
We’re looking for people affected by MS to take part in an informal online conversation with our Trustees on Tuesday 2 June 2026 from 6:00-7:15pm.
Who are our Trustees and what do they do?
As a charity, we are led by a Board of Trustees. They decide how we work and what we focus on. They oversee our progress, and how we manage our finances and risk. Most of our Trustees have a personal connection to MS, either because they have MS or someone they care about does.
Find out more about how we are run by clicking here and taking a look at our website.
Each June, the Trustees come together to discuss key issues facing the MS community and what they mean for our organisation. We’ve been exploring ways to make sure these discussions are grounded in the real experiences of people affected by MS. An online conversation is a way for Trustees to hear directly about the things that matter to you before they meet.
What we’ll talk about
This year, the Trustees will be looking at how new technologies are changing life with MS.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is starting to have an impact on how people access information, advice, and support. As an organisation, we want to understand what this means in real life for people affected by MS - what’s working well, what isn’t, and what might be missing.
In this online conversation, we want to hear about how AI is showing up in everyday life for people living with MS. For example, someone might manage their cognitive symptoms by using an AI tool like ChatGPT to simplify complicated information. Or ask it to suggest places to go that have disabled toilets and are accessible for a mobility scooter.
But while some people are finding AI helpful, other people have concerns. We’re interested in hearing about both perspectives.
You don’t need any technical knowledge. What matters is your lived experience.
Why take part?
- Connect with people who share your interest in the impact of AI on life with MS.
- Directly discuss your experiences and ideas with the Trustees who make decisions about our work and what we focus on.
- Help shape how we think about supporting people affected by MS now and in the future.
What to expect
A supportive and inclusive online discussion, around an hour and 15 minutes long, facilitated by an MS Society volunteer with expertise in this area.
A few days before the session, we’ll send you information about the discussion topics, to give you time to think about what you might like to talk about.
Afterwards, we’ll send you a follow-up email so you can give feedback on your experience of taking part.
What you’ll need to take part
You’ll need a computer, smartphone, or tablet with a stable internet connection to join. We use Zoom for our online events, which is easy to access and free to download from Zoom.us. If you need help getting started on Zoom, contact us at [email protected] and we’ll provide a simple guide.
Please also contact us at [email protected] to discuss how we could help make this session accessible for you.
How to get involved
If you’re interested in getting involved, and willing to discuss your experiences and ideas in a group setting, please click here to fill in this online form by Friday 22 May.
The form asks you to tell us your name and contact details, your connection to MS, and why you would like to take part. It also asks you to confirm your consent for the session to be recorded and shared with our Trustees and the MS Society team who support them.
We’ll choose a small group of participants with different experiences from the people who respond. This will make sure everyone has time to contribute during the session, across the range of topics we’re there to discuss.
If you're not invited to take part this time, there will be other opportunities to be involved in similar sessions in the future.
