What’s happening with Project Mead and MS Help

Project Mead is our services transformation project. The changes we’re making to improve our services for people who need us will launch in spring next year as MS Help.
Restructuring our services
Last month we told you about the restructuring consultation taking place with staff in our Services and Support directorate. The consultation has now closed. The outcome of that work and the restructuring of our services to deliver MS Help will see lots of changes happening between now and the end of the year. We aim to have our new structure in place for January 2026, so we can focus on supporting staff and volunteers with getting up to speed with our new ways of working.
This means, over the next few months, you’re likely to see some of our staff members moving into new teams and new roles. It may also mean some roles coming to an end and people leaving the charity, or recruiting new staff into Services and Support.
Thank you for your patience during the consultation period and your continued support over the next few months. If you need to speak to our Volunteer Support Team or your usual contact in Services and Support during this time, please be mindful that it may take a bit longer to respond to your query.
Talking to volunteers
Over the last few months, we’ve been sharing as much information as we can about Project Mead across our volunteer channels. Gavin Atkins, our Executive Director of Services and Support, presented an exclusive reveal of MS Help and our new MS Help Hub at a Volunteer Voice meeting over the summer. You can watch that video here (see the bottom of this article for guidance on watching videos on Vimeo).
He’s also been meeting volunteers in local groups and on our MS Helpline Team to share our plans for MS Help and hear from you. He’s asked where we need to focus attention to bring volunteers on our change journey with us.
At the same time, with a network of over 2,600 MS Society volunteers supporting our community, we recognise it can be difficult to get the word out and make sure everyone has the information they need about the changes that are coming.
If you have ideas about how we can share MS Help updates and the key information volunteers will need next year, please send them our way. You can email the project team at [email protected].
We'll read and reply to every email we receive.
