MS Help is now live – what you need to know

Today we’ve launched MS Help: a new, simpler way for people affected by MS to find support.

MS Help is the name we’re now using for all the services and support we offer. It brings together our national, digital and local services so they feel more connected and easier to access.

At the centre of MS Help is the MS Help Hub, a single starting point for the support that we offer to the MS community.

If someone contacts us by phone, email, letter or webchat (launching later this month), they’ll connect with the Help Hub. A trained Hub Support Adviser will listen and help guide them to the right information, services or local support. This builds on the success of our helpline, which has been replaced by the Help Hub.

A key difference with the Help Hub is the ongoing support our advisers can offer. As well as responding in the moment, Hub Support Advisers can follow up with an email summary of the conversation and links to helpful information. People who request one can arrange a timed check-in, and where appropriate, book appointments with our MS nurses and Physical Activity Specialists.

What this means for volunteers

We simply couldn’t provide the support and services we do without our volunteers. MS Help is designed to strengthen the role that you, our volunteers, play in supporting the MS community.

Local groups can still be contacted by people seeking support directly. But we’re also asking you to share the contact details for the MS Help Hub when talking to people who may need support.

This will ensure people can easily find all the support available, including services they might not know about. It also helps people move more smoothly between different types of support as their needs change.

Support for Volunteers: MS Help Teams

Alongside the MS Help Hub, we’re also introducing MS Help Teams across the UK. These teams will replace the Volunteer Support Team in providing support and guidance to volunteers.

These local teams support volunteers and community development. For volunteers, they are here to make it easier to access advice, guidance and practical support when it’s needed. For service development, Help Teams will ensure that local knowledge and community needs shape the support we offer.

You can find out who your local contacts are here.
