Important: preparing for the data freeze

As mentioned in last month’s newsletter, we’re getting ready to switch on our new data platform, Sage.

To migrate to the new platform, we’ll need to freeze our organisation’s current database from Wednesday 8 October. The data freeze is anticipated to last around three weeks.

Last week, we emailed Group Coordinators, Communications Volunteers, Admin Volunteers and Activities Organisers to let them know what to expect.

What this means for groups

The data freeze means no live data will be available during this time, and so your group’s contact list won’t be up to date. Therefore, we’re asking you to ensure you do not send any communications during this period.

In our email last week, we asked that your group's contact list and any planned communications were sent before Wednesday 8 October.

If you need to send something critical between 8-29 October, such as information about an event being cancelled, or you must post something and require support with labels, please contact the Volunteer Support Team on 0300 500 8084 (select option #3) or [email protected].

Why does this need to happen?

Data freezes are a normal part of large-scale system changes. They help to avoid errors, duplication, or lost data before a system goes live. Once Sage goes live, all our data will be brought into one centralised location, creating a single and reliable source. Sage will help us lay the foundations for the future to ensure we have the right tools and systems in place to deliver the best support for people living with MS.

Thanks in advance for your help.
