MS Society Designs

We’ve now launched our MS Society Designs service following the closure of Web to Print. MS Society Designs is a temporary solution that we've developed in a short timeframe with the limited resources that we had available. We will be working to secure further funding for a permanent platform for our groups to order marketing materials. We’ll provide further updates on this when we can.

Make an order:

1 Read the Design Guide to choose the design you want to order and see what information we need from you.

2 Download and complete the word template for the item you would like to order.

3 Fill out and submit the online form to place your order. Don’t forget to attach the word template and any photographs included in your design.

Your order will then go to our designer, who will aim to provide a first draft for you to review in seven working days.

You'll then have seven working days to review the item, with the option for one round of changes.

Once your feedback has been received, we'll deliver your final item in two working days.

If you have any questions or require support, please contact the MS Society Designs Team at [email protected]

What are MS Society Designs?

After the closure of the Web to Print platform, MS Society Designs is our interim solution which supports groups and individuals to design and produce high quality newsletters, stationery, social media graphics and other promotional items.

We want to be mindful of the environment with this solution and as a result we’re currently operating a digital-first model. If you wish to print copies of your item, you’ll have the option to select a print-ready version of your design. You can then either print it off at home or do so via a local printer. We’ve included guidance below on finding and using a local printer. We understand there are certain designs available (i.e., pop up banners) where this is not possible, so please let us know of any issues and we can assist in the printing process.

Why use MS Society Designs?

Brand recognition

How we look helps people build recognition of the MS Society brand and amplifies our engagement with our communities. Everything - from leaflets and posters to newsletters and certificates should be consistent and distinctive to present us as the trusted, inclusive and personable organisation that we are. See 'Using our brand' for more information.

The new templates include our logo, font, colours and other brand features, so you can feel confident that whatever is produced will be clearly recognisable as coming from the MS Society.

Who can order MS Society Designs?

MS Society Designs are available for staff, individuals and volunteer groups operating within the MS Society. It’s up to your group’s Coordinating Team to decide which volunteer/s will be responsible for your MSS marketing materials. This could be an Administration Volunteer, Communications Volunteer or another member of your Coordinating Team.

To use MS Society Designs, you will need:

  • A computer with internet access

  • Your MS Society group email address or your MS Society email address

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader software to open downloaded files (you can download for free here)

How do I order MS Society Designs and what's available?

We’ve worked closely with a designer to create a fresh selection of MS Society Designs for you to use.

Design guide

As part of this process, we’ve put together a design guide available here which provides full details on the designs available and what information we need from you to fulfil your order.

Order Form

We’ve created an easy-to-use form available here to place your order.

Word templates

We’ve also created word templates that will need to be completed depending on what you’re ordering – these are available here and will need to be uploaded to the order form.

Order process

We ask you to follow the form, fill out the relevant fields and upload the necessary word document and imagery. Once you’ve pressed ‘submit’ this form will go straight to our designer to create your promotional item.

Once designed, the finished template will be emailed back to you. You can then do one of two things:

  • Download the PDF of the file to print off copies on a desktop printer, or email the PDF to another person for them to print

  • Take the PDF of the file to your local printers to order printed copies

Orders should be placed by 5pm on a Monday and you’ll then receive your order within 5-7 working days (this could vary within busy periods).

We’ll send your order back with the option for one round of amends. Once these have been received, we’ll deliver your final order by email within 48 hours.

Please note the layout of the designs are all pre-set and cannot be changed or moved around. This is to maintain brand consistency, colour accuracy and quality across the organisation and our groups.

MS Society Designs that will be available to order (imagery and further information on word counts and sections are available in the design guide document here).

Choosing images

We’ve identified a suite of images that are available to use within the marketing materials. We’re currently working on adding to this suite of photography and hope to be able to offer more in the coming months.

If you want to add an image or other information about a person, they must give written consent to this use. You’ll be asked to confirm this before submitting a print order. If you have your own imagery, you’ll be able to upload this easily into the order form (instructions on the form). If you upload an image from the internet, you must ensure that you are not in breach of copyright. Download a Consent Form.

Design layout

Please note that the layout of the designs may change slightly due to the amount of text provided by you. Our designer will use his judgement on the layout to ensure it's visually presented in the best way and also remains accessible. He'll maintain brand consistency, colour accuracy and quality across all designs.

Data protection

Under The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we’re legally required to ensure that we tell service users, members, volunteers and staff how we intend to use the personal data we hold about them. See our data protection guidance.

Printing

As mentioned above, we’re operating a digital-first system and ask that groups consider the environment before printing anything.

We appreciate all items listed won’t work for this approach, such as pull up banners, so we’re working hard to introduce a print option for these items as soon as possible.

If you do need to have print options for your designs, there are a few options listed below.

Print and copy services

Print and copy shops specialise in printing various printed items. Local print shops get to know your printing needs. You can ask your local printer experts questions to learn about the best paper type and best practice for your printed publications. Your local printers can precisely match the colours on your templates to ensure you keep the MS Society branding.

Like online print providers, most local printers have links to their websites or an email address for you to send your PDF files over to. This can save you time as you won’t need to drop off items to be printed. It also allows you to upload your PDF file at the most convenient time to you.

Depending on your location, a public printer service might be less common. Most local printers are independent shops, and are usually locally owned, so it can be a great way to support your local business.

There are some lasting benefits to deciding on a local printing company over an online printing company. There are less carbon emissions since your printed items won’t be shipped from far away. This is good for the environment. Also, by supporting a local business, you’re helping your area and local economy.

Office supply stores

Office supply stores are a great place when you need something printed fast. Stores such as Staples or Ryman offer affordable same-day and on-the-spot printing and copying services.

Public libraries and universities

If you need a document printed right away, another alternative is using a printer at a public library.

The public printing service at libraries are usually limited to printing your basic document, but gets the job done when you’re in a hurry! The prices usually vary by library.

Depending on the university, printing at a university library may also be an option. University libraries sometimes allow non-students to use their computers and printers.

Like normal libraries, the printing services they offer are usually basic, but it’s an option when you really need to print just a few pages.

Online printing providers

A printing option that’s excellent if you don’t need the printout straightaway is online printing.

Lots of companies allow you to upload your PDF online and have your printed publication sent back to you.

Online printers can be useful and cost-effective when you’re printing a large amount and don’t need your printed items right away.
